Baptism is the door to the other sacraments. It removes all sins, making us “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Pet 1:4), adopted sons and daughters of the heavenly Father, and heirs of heaven.
The sacrament of Baptism is so important that Jesus said without it we “cannot enter the kingdom of God” (Jn 3:5). It is in the Sacrament of Baptism that the Christian is “born again” in Christ.
Are you seeking the Sacrament of Baptism for a young member of your family?
St. Benilde Church provides not only details pertaining to the Baptism liturgy but also provides parents with the Church’s teachings regarding the responsibility of raising their child in the Catholic faith. Parents will learn that they are the primary educators of their children in the faith.
To begin the process of preparing for your child’s Baptism, please download the Parents Baptismal Packet and the Godparent Baptismal Packet found on the left-hand side of this webpage. Each of the packets has an introductory letter and detailed explanations to assist you in preparing for your child’s Baptism.
Once the packet is completed, please call the Parish Office to register for the Baptismal Seminar.
Our Baptismal Preparation Seminar consists of one mandatory session, usually held on the last Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Office.
Once the paperwork and Seminar are complete, we will be happy to schedule your child’s Baptism. The Rite of Baptism is held on the first and third Sundays of the month following the 11:00 a.m. Mass in the Church.
For information on the requirements for Baptism, Godparents, etc, or to register for the Baptismal Seminar please call the Parish Office at (504) 834-4980, ext. 110.
