Our school children will also perform on stage on Saturday and Sunday. The St. Benilde Foodie Fest … Come for the Food … Stay for the Fun!
As part of Confirmation preparation for sophomore candidates, the activity "When the Saints Go Marching In" is scheduled for Sunday, November 1st, from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. in the main school building. On All Souls Day we honor all of our deceased loved ones in a special way. Here at St. Benilde Church we will be remembering your deceased loved ones both on this day with the celebration of Holy Mass (Monday, November 2nd) and at all of the Masses throughout the month of November. In that spirit, we invite you to inscribe the names of those you wish for us to remember and pray for on All Souls Day and during the Masses throughout the month of November on the special All Souls Remembrance Envelopes found in the vestibule of the Church. Please place your envelopes in the collection basket or bring them to the Parish Office before November 1st. The suggested donation is $5.00 per name recorded on your envelop. Mass remembrance envelopes will remain on the altar throughout the month of November and names will be printed in the Parish Bulletin.
This weekend is Hospitality Weekend, hosted by the Rosary and Altar Society and the Holy Name Society. Please make plans to join us for coffee, donuts, and fellowship after Mass.
Our parish will be participating in a life-affirming Baby Bottle Fundraiser to benefit Access Pregnancy & Referral Centers of Catholic Charities. ACCESS provides comprehensive pregnancy support services to abortion- vulnerable women, including pregnancy testing, ultrasound services, online Medicaid enrollment, low-cost maternity care and material support. Baby bottles will available after each Mass during the weekend of Oct. 17 & 18. Simply return your baby bottle filled with a donation the following weekend. This is a great way to show your support for LIFE. Thank you!
With the calendar year almost over, please be reminded that many of you indicated during school registration in January 2015, that you desired to be a registered, active, and supporting (RAS) family of St. Benilde Parish. Thank you for your commitment to our parish and for your desire to support the work of the Church in proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel! Please note that to be recognized as a RAS family at St. Benilde Parish, a contribution level has been set at $520 per calendar year. This is a friendly reminder that if you do not maintain the status of a RAS family by December 31, 2015, you will have to pay a higher non-participation tuition rate per child for the 2016-2017 school year. This has been a long-standing policy of our parish and is consistent with our neighboring Catholic Churches in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. If you would like to check your current contribution level, please call the Parish Office at 834-4980.
St. Benilde School is currently looking for a part time custodian to work with Mr. Fellman on various projects around the school. Interested applicant can contact Mr. Fellman Mire - Director of Facilities - at 504-833-9894.
The St. Benilde Foodie Fest is on its way! And we could use your help. We need some more cleaned out eggs to do our ever-popular confetti eggs. What is a confetti egg? It is an egg shell with the yolk removed and the insides cleaned out. It is then filled with confetti. Kids (and adults) love taking the eggs and smashing them on the heads of people at the fair. What do you need to do to help us out? Simply remove the yolk from eggs, clean out the shell, and bring them in to the school or parish office. The fair committee will take it from there. To learn how, simply Google “Confetti Eggs.” There are plenty of helpful tutorials online.
St. Benilde Parish is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on October 14th during The 40 Days for Life Campaign. Please consider joining other St. Benilde parishioners for an hour at the Ridgelake Avenue abortion facility to pray for an end to abortion. There is a sign-up poster in the vestibule of Church. Please call the Parish Office for more information.
