The Adoration Chapel will be closed for roof repairs beginning Thursday, May 24th, at 5 PM, and will reopen on Sunday, June 3rd at 7:00 PM. If inclement weather necessitates a longer then planned repair time, please check the parish website for the most accurate closure schedule. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to make much needed repairs to our aging Church building.

The Parish Office will be closed Monday, May 28th, in observance of Memorial Day. We will reopen Tuesday at 9 AM.

I extend my personal congratulations to Ron and Mary-Catherine Oleksik and Tim and Cherri Pitre, the recipients of the 2018 Order of St. Louis IX Medallion, for their outstanding service and commitment to both St. Benilde Catholic Church and to the local Church in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. This award recognizes the lay faithful who, by their loving service to the Church in and of New Orleans, continue to spread the Good News of the Gospel to all whom they encounter. Registration for St. Benilde Men’s Club Summer Cabbage Ball Program is underway for children in pre-K4 through 12th grade. Games will be played from May 22nd to June 28th. Registration forms are available in the Church and School Offices, or may be downloaded from the parish website.

Congratulations to John “JJ” Virga IV for being selected as the representative from St. Benilde Catholic Church to receive the 2018 Altar Server Award from Archbishop Aymond. Because of his faithfulness to this important ministry in the Church, our parish community is proud to nominate him for this honor. We extend our personal congratulations to JJ. We also extend our thankfulness to all the boys who are dedicated to serving at the Altar of the Lord.

During the Month of May – a month both named for and dedicated to Mary – Catholics have long honored our Blessed Mother by placing a crown on her image. All are invited to our Parish May Crowning on Sunday, May 6th, at the 11:00 AM Mass. Our First Communicants and all the Children of the Parish will be invited to join Fr. Cooper at the sanctuary step for the homily. Children and adults are encouraged to bring flowers to Mass to adorn our Lady!
