"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1 Peter 4:10).
WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
The call of the Christian is first and foremost one of active discipleship. It’s a lifelong journey of reshaping ourselves into Christ; a process of continued conversion and humble submission to the Lord. This is only possible through our cooperation with God’s grace. Possible through a humble recognition that “every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17) and a willingness to share those gifts of Time, Talent, and Treasure generously with Christ and His Church.
This is what's known as a life of stewardship. It’s a personal commitment to honestly examine the gifts that the Lord has given us and a willingness to generously return those gifts to Him. It’s an acceptance of the fact that without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5) and an openness to become more submissive to His will, allowing Him to use our gifts.
